FAQs for Parents
What is Summer Advantage USA?
Summer Advantage USA is a national non-profit that provides research-based, top-quality accelerated summer learning programs for children in grades K-8, focusing on academics and enrichment. Summer Advantage USA aims to provide all children access to well-rounded, high-quality summer learning experiences to help them achieve mastery in core subjects, stimulate their dreams and aspirations for the future, and help them develop as scholars, citizens, and leaders.
What do Summer Advantage USA’s programs look like?
For five weeks during the summer, Summer Advantage USA hosts children at their local schools for a full day of educational programming, including literacy, math, and enrichment activities such as art, drama, music and sports. Our scholars also lead community service projects, go on field trips, hear from inspiring guest speakers, and connect with top-quality mentors. Check out our Programs page for more information about our summer programs.
What should I do to get my child involved in Summer Advantage USA’s programs?
The best way to get more information is to complete an inquiry form online at this link or with a Summer Advantage USA Outreach Team Member, and we will send you more information as it becomes available. You can also email outreach@summeradvantage.org with specific questions.
I heard that Summer Advantage USA programs are free for some students. Is that true?
Our partner districts believe in the value of summer learning for children and dedicate a variety of resources to provide the Summer Advantage USA programs at low or no cost to parents. In the state of Indiana, a student can participate in the Summer Advantage programs for free if they are eligible for Supplemental Education Services (SES), as determined by their school district. Please email outreach@summeradvantage.org for more information.
How do I know if my child is SES eligible in Indiana?
In Indiana specifically, students are SES eligible if the child:
1) qualifies for free or reduced lunch,
2) attends an SES school (Click here to see qualified schools)
3) is considered non-proficient according to state and district standards.
For more information regarding SES eligibility, contact your district’s Title 1 Coordinator.
How can I bring Summer Advantage USA to my district?
